WHAT'S HAPPENING As Of September 18, 2009
PASTORAL VISITING WORKSHOP: Saturday Sept. 26, 2009 at St Andrew's from 10:00 am to noon. Presented by Martha Fish. No Charge — Please Pre-Register @ 368-5581 or 362-9022. To develop comfort in visiting fellow parishioners in a variety of circumstances, with a focus on the elderly. We will learn and practice effective communication styles, learn to recognize and respond appropriately to situations where communication is difficult and develop/strengthen an ongoing network of supportive visitors.
AT HOME WITH GOD: Friends of Taize Guided Weekend Retreat. October 16-18 @ Marywood Retreat Centre—Cranbrook. The weekend will include: Input, Taize changes, Quiet Prayer & Group Sharing. For further information, please call Marywood at 250-426-8117 or email marywoodretreats@shaw.ca.
FOOD BANK NOTICE: There were over 60 families at the Food Bank this past week. And so, the cupboards are very bare again! The next Food Bank will be held Tuesday, October 13th. The team would appreciate donations of fruit, vegetables and proteins. A special request has been extended for treats for the children: cookies, chocolate bars, juices, etc. Thanks to the Parish for Ongoing Support!!
REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE FROM ALTAR GUILD: Altar Guild would appreciate donations of produce, flowers, etc. for Harvest Sunday, October 11th. Please deliver to the church on Saturday morning, Oct 10th @ 10 am……..and then we encourage you to stay and help decorate!!

GARDEN PARTY—Sat. June 6. Grand Opening of the Renovated Garden! Strawberry Tea - Bottle Stall - Plant Sale - Bake Sale - Garden Advice - Book Stall - Games of Skill. Rita will be handling the Bottle Stall. A box will be placed in the Narthex for contributions. We’d appreciate baking for the Bake Sale & plants for the Plant Sale…... to be brought to the church 9:00 am Saturday morning. The Strawberry Tea will begin following the official opening of the Lord’s Garden at noon. Edith P. is organizing teams to ensure the success of the tea. Volunteers are needed. EFM—OPEN EVENING: EFM has an open evening on Thursday May 14th. It's an opportunity for anyone who is interested in doing EFM and would like to see what it entails without making any commitment. It is at Castlegar from 6.30 - 9pm during which we have refreshments. Otherwise just come for half a session or on another evening when it might be more convenient. SPECIAL FOOD BANK REQUEST: 65 recipients attended the recent Food Bank! Normally, we have approximately 35-40 visiting. This was by far the largest group we’ve served. We scrambled to find enough food for all. Thanks for your generous offerings last Sunday! Food and Financial Gifts are still needed to prepare for the next time (Tue., April 14th)

WHAT'S HAPPENING As Of March 11 2009:
SPECIAL APPEAL FROM OUR FOOD BANK: Yesterday, we had 65 people visit. The usual number is 35-40, so this large number was unexpected. We scrambled to gather enough food for everyone. VALENTINE TEA—Upcoming Fundraiser - Saturday, February 7th. This will include a bake sale and possibly a crafts table. We are looking for volunteers to contribute baking, help with set-up, decorating, serving & clean-up. If you have crafty items or something to raffle off, please consider contributing that.
